ExxonMobil unit plans LNG terminal near Corpus Christi By OGJ editors HOUSTON, Jan. 16-- An ExxonMobil Corp. affiliate, Vista del Sol LNG Terminal LP, Thursday revealed plans to construct a $600 million LNG receiving terminal in San Patricio County, Tex., 2 miles west of Ingleside on the Texas Gulf Coast. The 1 bcfd terminal will process imported LNG for distribution throughout Texas and the US, beginning in 2008-09. The company has applied to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for authority to build the terminal and said the permitting process along with necessary studies, such as engineering design, safety, environmental, and others, would take about 18 months. The Port of Corpus Christi Board of Commissioners has already approved the project. In November, another ExxonMobil affiliate, Golden Pass LNG Terminal LP, applied for an FERC permit to build an LNG receiving terminal at Sabine Pass, Tex., in Jefferson County about 10 miles south of Port Arthur. ExxonMobil also owns a purchase option for a potential LNG import site at Mobile Bay, Ala. In October, Exxon Mobil Corp. and Qatar Petroleum Co. announced a Heads of Agreement to supply 15.6 million tonnes/year of LNG (2 bcfd) from Qatar to the US for 25 years (OGJ Online, Oct. 21, 2003).
